First Post-Op Appointment and Other things

My appointment went very well yesterday.  The NP was happy with everything so far.  My iron is a little low so I was asked to take an iron supplement.  Other than that, it was a good appointment.  Next appointment scheduled for January.

I asked her about the protein supplements that I've read others have to drink for life.  She told me not to listen to them and to stay on the diet given to me by the nutritionist and that as I progress, I will be getting plenty of protein.  She said that's the reason it must be the first item I eat so if I fill up quickly, at least I have protein in there.  I was very happy to hear this because I didn't want to have to drink protein supplements for the rest of my life.

Last night I broiled some fish for dinner.  This was the first dinner I've eaten that was a struggle.  I chewed and chewed, but had difficulty swallowing without it hurting at the pouch.  I had taken maybe two bites and there was pain.  So I raised my arms over my head, leaned back and let gravity take over.  It took a few minutes, but the food passed further down so it didn't hurt anymore.  I was able to eat about three more bites and then I was done.  The fish was good - my boys ate it right up.  Maybe it was too dry and that's why it was difficult.  This is when not drinking with meals is tough.
