First of Many

Let me say, WELCOME to my blog.

I had laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery on October 11, 2010.  It was the best thing I've done for myself EVER.  As of today, I have lost 50 pounds - that includes pre-surgery required weight loss of 32 pounds and, so far, a post surgery weight loss of 18 pounds.  I'm feeling great and look forward posting more losses.

About me - I'm married for 20 years and have two sons.  They are fully supportive of my decision to make myself healthier and look forward to seeing me feeling and looking better.

Surgery was on a Monday and I was home from the hospital by Wednesday.  Healing has gone very smoothly so far.  I left the hospital on no prescription pain meds and really haven't needed anything more than a Tylenol for discomfort during the first few days at home.  I'm on week three of the post-op diet and will start more solid foods this week.  I'm so looking forward to baked and broiled fish!

I have six incisions on my abdomen.  All are healing nicely.  No staples - my surgeon used glue on the outside so the scars will be minimal.  I've been taking my necessary vitamins as dictated by the nutritionist and have no troubles whatsoever with them.

I have not experienced dumping syndrome as of yet.  I have read that it's terrible.  But as I stated, I've followed my doctor's & nutritionist's orders strictly.

This first post seems pretty blah and drab.  I will attempt to make the others a bit more fun and less stiff -- but, c'mon, aren't intros always a little dull?
